A New York State Boating Safety Course will be offered by Suffolk Co. Police Marine Bureau Officers Mike Axelson. The course will satisfy the New York State law that went into effect May 1, 2014, requiring that ALL boat operators born ON or AFTER May 1, 1996 successfully complete an approved course in boater education in order to operate a motors boat.
All participants must complete the required curriculum on all three dates and pass a multiple choice exam at the end of the third day. The course is free for all patrons, however, New York State requires a $10.00 registration fee for those patrons 18 years and over to be paid at the completion of the course. Please bring a pen to fill out required forms.
Registrants for this course must be 10 years of age or older at the beginning of the course.
Registration for Babylon patrons begins online, by phone, or at the Circulation Desk Thursday, February 12. Out of district residents may begin to register Thursday, February 26. A valid library card is required for registration. One person per library card.
