Computer Rules

  • All users must log on with their own Babylon Library or Suffolk County library card.
  • If you cannot log on due to a problem with your library card, you must see a Clerk at the Circulation Desk.
  • Patron fines of $5.00 or more must be paid at the Circulation Desk in order to log on.
  • Babylon Library cardholders are limited to THREE hours per day OR A MAXIMUM OF THREE computer log ons per day. All others are limited to TWO hours or TWO log ons on the computer provided there is not a Babylon Library cardholder waiting to log on.
  • If computers are full, Babylon Library cardholders may sign up at the RESERVATION STATION for the next available computer.
  • THE RESERVATION STATION IS FOR BABYLON LIBRARY CARDHOLDERS ONLY. Others may wait in the library until a computer becomes available that is not reserved for a Babylon Library cardholder, however, the library cannot guarantee how long a wait that may be.
  • Out of town guests or those without a library card must go to the Circulation desk and provide photo identification for a one day guest pass. Suffolk County residents will be extended a one day guest pass but are expected to attain a Suffolk County Library card from their home library as soon as possible.
  • If you leave your computer station, you will automatically be logged off after five minutes and will have to wait for a free computer. This will also use up one of your log ons.
  • Users must pay 10 cents per page for black and white printing and 25 cents per page for color printing.
  • Computers shut down automatically fifteen minutes before library closing.
