Miles decides to go away to boarding school in search of a “Great Perhaps”. Within days of being there, he makes friends with Chap, aka the Colonel; Takumi, and Alaska, a girl of mystery and bluntness. Throughout the school year, they grow very close and pull a few pranks on the school. However, one night, Alaska decides to drive off in the middle of the night, and leaves her friends and the whole school wondering why she left.
